How is my price calculated?
Our price per pound refers to the cow's hanging weight. An average cow has a hanging weight of 750 lbs. Just like any bulk purchase, the more of the cow you buy, the cheaper it will be per pound.
What about butcher fees? Will I need to pay them?
No! You will not need to pay extra for transporting the steer, or cutting/wrapping the beef. We’ll take care of that for you. The estimated prices shown on our Options and Pricing document will only slightly change due to the weight of the cow, as the estimated prices shown are based on an average weight cow.
Why is my price "approximate"?
The prices listed are approximate, because they're based on our average weight cow. Like us, cows come in all different shapes and sizes. We at Willow Brook Farms like to let our cows have free choice as to how big or small they want to be, so we won't know exactly how much they weigh until they're weighed at the butcher. All butcher fees (transporting and processing) are already figured into the estimated price, so the only fluctuation you'd encounter would be due to weight.
With that being said, we will be in touch as soon as we find out, so we can get you an exact price and weight for your order.
How much space will I need to store my beef?
You'll probably need more than your average freezer space, especially if you've got other frozen goods in there. Storage space recommendations can be found on our Options and Pricing document.
Will you deliver my beef?
You are more than welcome to pick up your beef from the butcher, but we will happily make the trip to deliver your beef for a $40 fee. We'll be in touch to set that up when we discuss payment.
I want my beef and I want it now! Why can't I get it sooner?
Butchers have lots of customers demanding local beef and they're working as quickly and as hard as they can. As such, we're only able to get a few cows in at a time. I know you're craving it, but patience is a virtue. We'll get you your beef as soon as we can.
